5 Bedrooms · Sleeps 10
Set in a delightfully sleepy corner of party-loving Mykonos, Villa Drakothea is carved into the hillside in a beautiful, peaceful spot, on the south-east side of the island. Guests are rewarded with breathtaking, panoramic views of the Aegean Sea and surrounding islands.
There is an abundance of villas to rent in Mykonos, but none can equal Drakothea's quirky originality, location and distinctive style. At first glance, it's traditionally Mykonian; with delightful curves and whitewashed walls, pea-green shutters and bold splashes of colour. Aged lintels, doors and beams add character, all recycled by the owner from salvage yards across Greece.
Stunning olive tree-filled grounds offer oodles of secluded spots to enjoy sun-soaked days, while the infinity pool, which runs the length of the property, will make you feel you are swimming in the Aegean beyond. There are pergola-covered seating areas and in a quiet corner, there's barbecue and stone oven for relaxed outdoor dining.
It's interior is just as unique as its exterior. The lighting by day and at night seems almost magical, unexpected and dramatic and makes the house very cosy and romantic and the perfect stage for entertaining. Villa Drakothea has been tastefully decorated by its owners, both artists, with antiques and art pieces from all over the world.
Inside, cushion-lined sofas hug the curves of the living area and the dining room’s crisp whitewashed walls and stone floors make a rustic setting for cosy suppers, with extra catering options including waiters, chefs and grocery delivery available.
Five quirky bedrooms provide a perfect, romantic setting, and each has its own bathroom with a charming rustic style. Villa Drakothea is brimming with artistic details and its cosy ambience makes it the perfect spot to share a rather special Mykonion adventure.
All the major rooms open on to a balcony or terrace, where one can dine, sunbathe or lounge undisturbed and enjoy panoramic views of the Aegean Sea and many other islands. Lia Bay and the secluded Tigani Beach are at the feet of the property.
Villa Drakothea has featured in Condé Nast Traveller, House Beautiful and Architectural Digest. You can't help falling in love with the unique and fabulously quirky Mykonian style and in addition to its breathtaking views over the Aegean.
Villa Drakothea’s glorious infinity pool was voted ‘5th Sexiest Pool in the World’!
Mykonos is known as a playground for "A-listers", but you'd never guess it from the sleepy seclusion that Villa Drakothea offers. This unique villa in the little-visited south-east of the island offers exclusivity and a truly memorable one-of-a-kind appeal.
