Perched on the cliffs of Ferragudo on the western Algarve coast, this large family holiday villa for 10 or 19 guests, faces west towards Sagres and the setting sun. There are terraces at all levels enjoying the magnificent views, and a swimming pool overlooking the sea (heated on request)

Also suitable for special event hire or corporate rentals, this spacious holiday villa benefits from 180º views over the peaceful waters of the Algarve coast, with passing fishing boats and yachts making their way to and from the marinas, all the way round to the Monchique mountain ranges to the rear of the property. Across the wide estuary is a distant view along Praia Rocha beach, which is a well-known resort to many visitors to the Algarve.

Casa Amarela remains in the ownership of the Portuguese Royal family today. Since the Princess’s days, the villa has been updated to modern standards, yet retains many of the original features, including the antique beds with the family coat of arms. As a holiday home, it can be rented on a “half house” basis for up to 10 guests or for “full capacity”. There are a total of 9 bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms, sleeping 19 persons spread over three floors, with a lift servicing each level. The main drawing room with sea views opens onto an extensive terrace and boasts a beautiful grand piano; there is a separate TV room, and a downstairs bar and WC services on the pool terrace, which also has a poolside shower.

Ferragudo is undoubtedly one of the gems of the Algarve coast - the quiet charm of this waterside village makes this house more suitable to families and persons wanting to enjoy the special Portuguese magic or for golfing groups, rather than young parties seeking the nightlife of the resorts. We strongly recommend a walk along the beach to the small quayside restaurants where you can get delicious fresh fish grilled on a charcoal brazier, and there are many golf courses located within a short drive away.

Lower Ground Floor:

Television room with flat screen LCD TV & DVD player. Triple children’s bedroom with sitting area opening onto the pool terrace. Bathroom. Bar opening onto pool terrace. Laundry room.

Ground Floor:

Entrance hall and cloakroom. Double doors leading to a private chapel. Living room opening onto the terrace, which has a retractable sun awning and tables for eating outdoors (16 people). Sitting room with comfortable chairs and CD player. Formal dining room seating 8 at the main table, and a further 8-10 on two circular tables. Well equipped kitchen (elect grill/gas oven/gas hob/microwave/dish washer/fridge-freezer) and breakfast room/pantry, which is ideal for children’s meals. Two double bedrooms each with en-suite bathroom and one twin bedroom with en-suite shower, all with sea views and doors leading out to a shared terrace. One further twin bedroom with en-suite bathroom and garden/river view. The former garage has a table tennis table and is an ideal playroom for children.

First Floor:

Twin bedroom with en-suite bathroom and garden views. Double bedroom with en-suite shower room, doors to roof terrace. Two further twin bedrooms (more suitable for children) sharing a bathroom and a small sitting room, sea views and doors out to a shared terrace.

Staff & Services:

Resident Housekeeper – D. Regina the housekeeper, has been employed at the villa for over 25 years and was housekeeper to the Princess until her death; guests will be met by the housekeeper on arrival; D. Regina (and her team’s) primary job is to clean the house & ensure the washing of the household linen (09:30 – 16:30 hours) weekdays only; all bedrooms, public areas & bathrooms are cleaned & tidied once a day. Washing of guests personal clothes or dish washing is not included. Should clients arrive during weekends or bank holidays, the housekeeper will be available on the day of arrival.

  • Beaches - the sandy beach just bellow Casa da Infanta can be reached from a steep flight of private steps directly from the villa; a gentler slope but longer walk from the estate grounds will take you to Praia Grande, 1km
  • Golf Courses – within a 15-20 minute drive you can reach Alamos, Alto Golf, Gramacho, Pinta, Penina, Morgado do Reguengo or Vale do Milho courses
  • Portimão & Marina (major shops & banks, bars & restaurants, hospital etc) - upstream on the other side of the river or 2 kms drive away

NB – There are some unprotected drops from various terraces and around the swimming pool – young children need to be supervised! The owners of the house are non-smokers and it is suggested that those wanting to smoke should use the downstairs television room or go outside on the terraces and balconies.
